Under Implementation
Angul I is a pit-head thermal power project located in the village of Derang, District Angul, state Odisha. The project will have a planned generation capacity of 1800 MW, consisting of three units of 600 MW each. The three units of 600 MW each will be developed in phases.
Company has already obtained all required approvals including water, coal, environmental clearances and has achieved financial closure. The company has already acquired land for the project
One 600 MW unit has been synchronized on coal on 31st March 2014 and has started generation. Second unit of 600 MW is in advanced stage of completion and likely to commissioned by end July 2014.
Our projects are strategically located in proximity to the source of coal and water for Angul I. The Mahanadi Coalfields Limited are located at Angul, our captive coal mines are located 5 kms away .The water for Angul I, II, II is sourced from the upstream Samal Barrage on Brahimini River which is approx. 14 kms from project site.
The power generated from Angul I to be evacuated through a dedicated transmission line form our generating station to Angul Pooling Station.
One of the success factors in the thermal power generation business is securing low cost dedicated long-term coal supplies. We are strongly placed in this regard. We have tied up for the coal supply from a captive coal block Mandakini-A allocated along with two other partners and have set-up a JV company for mining operations. The captive mine has a total coal reserves of 322.80 MMT with a net reserves of 290.52 MMT and our share is 96.84 MMT. Our share in the captive mine is for the exclusive use of the Angul-II project. We have also secured a long-term coal linkage for 25 years from Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) to meet our coal requirement for Angul-I.
We have also applied to the Ministry of Coal, Government of India for a long-term coal linkage for the Raigarh Project. We are currently awaiting approval for the same.
- Land for the main plant has been acquired and is in our possession.
- Water allocation for 48 cusecs received.
- Fuel requirement tied-up (by Coal Block and Long Term Coal Linkage)
- Environmental clearance for (2*600MW) obtained and for 3rd phase (1*600MW), it is under process.
- All Supply for BTG and Balance of Plant (BoP) for 2 units of 600 MW each completed.
- Financial Closure for all the three units has been achieved.
- Unit I is commissioned.
- Unit II, Boiler Hydro Test done, other erection activities in advanced stage and likely to be commissioned by July 2014.
- BOP of both units are all completed.
